Frequently Asked Questions

1. When did electrodermal screening begin?

In the 1950’s a German Physician and Acupuncturist named Reinholdt Voll invented the first test plate.

2. How does this testing work?

The test subject is instructed to hold a moistened brass hand mass, then the EDS practitioner gently applies a dull metal stylus on certain acupoints, which are located on the various acupressure meridians. A weak electrical charge enters into the meridian acupoints, circulates through the meridian which is being evaluated and then returns back into the computer system where a measurement is displayed. This process allows the practitioner to assess the energetic level of the meridian and thus the corresponding bodily organ or system with which is it aligned. Approximately 60 points or meridians are typically tested during a full session. Once done a priority area is determined, natural remedies are tested to determine which will help to support, cleanse and nourish the most significantly imbalanced meridian.

3. What are meridians?

Meridians are energy channels, which run throughout the body, near the skin, each one correlating with a different bodily organ or system. Specifically, each organ and bodily system has a meridian. For example, the kidneys, liver, large intestine, stomach, heart, pancreas, bladder, small intestine, gall bladder, pituitary/pineal, adrenals, and thyroid/thymus, all have meridians. So do the circulatory and endocrine systems.

4. What is the purpose of testing the meridians?

By testing the meridians, we can get energetic assessments of the various bodily organs and systems. This may allow us to find disturbances in certain organs at their earliest stages of imbalance and thus provides us with an opportunity to resolve these imbalances in the very early stages.

5. Is this testing painful?

No. The stylus that is used is dull and non-invasive.

6. Do you think that the test and resulting remedies can be used to replace drugs and/or traditional medical therapy?

No! Bio-Energetic testing is not a replacement for orthodox medicine it is only to be used in addition to medical care.

7. If Bio-Energetic testing or EDS cannot be used as a replacement for medical care then what is its purpose?

EDS is best used to facilitate the body’s own healing process. It does this by finding the area that needs attention and the remedies that will best improve the health of that organ or system.

8. Can Bio-Energetic testing be used to perform sensitivity testing?

Yes. Bio-Energetic testing can conduct sensitivity testing to help determine which foods, or epidermal irritants like molds, pollens, or other substances to which one might be sensitive.

9. How has this testing assisted your recovery?

It enabled me to pinpoint the areas of imbalance and find products that I could tolerate. Previously, when seeing an environmental physician for my health problems, many manifestations were found during testing. However, I could not tolerate the wellness plans and supplements that were recommended. Bio-Energetic testing eliminates most of the guesswork and enables the practitioner to accurately find natural remedies, which will be most helpful to the test subject.

10. Does Bio-Energetic testing provide a diagnosis for the test subject?

No. It only allows the practitioner to find energy imbalances in the meridians.

11. Is this form of testing covered by insurance plans?

No. Insurance plans typically only cover diagnosing and treating of symptoms. However, with the new Health Savings Accounts (HSA) plans, you may submit your invoices for screenings, footbaths and products. They will be covered under these types of accounts.

12. What type of health disturbances are best addressed with this type of testing?

Recurring health imbalances are probably best addressed with this form of testing. Likewise, minor energy imbalances can frequently be discovered and thus hopefully resolved before significant energy imbalances ever occur.

13. Can this form of testing be used to help people with injuries?

Probably not. Those with injuries are more likely to be helped by traditional medical therapies.

14. How frequently do people come in for Bio-Energetic testing?

Typically people come in monthly until their energetic meridian imbalances have been corrected. The length of time that it takes to correct an energetic imbalance will vary from person to person.

15. How long does it take to notice a difference? Is there a detox reaction?

Most people have to be fortified before detoxification can be allowed. Generally they feel better during the first month. However, all cases are individually dealt with, and depending on the degree of imbalance, the corresponding reaction will be as unique as the person. During a detoxification program, as the toxin is being released, people will generally have some reactions such as tiredness, achy or slight flu-like symptoms. We try to minimize these reactions, and work closely with the client. Remember that as you release a toxin, you will begin to feel better.

16. Do we test children?

Yes! Children under 4 years old are usually held by their parent during testing. Children older than that can be tested on their own. We also test pets using their saliva.
